Utilizing a Smith machine for this exercise can make it particularly accessible for those just starting out!

Start Position

1. Position the barbell at the topmost setting on the Smith Machine.

2. Stand with your feet aligned with your hips and slightly bend at the knees.

3. Grip the barbell overhand, with your hands a bit wider than shoulder-width.

4. Ensure your back remains straight and your core is engaged.

Proper Form

1. Start by gradually lowering the barbell toward your midriff.

2. Maintain a flat back and engaged core throughout the movement.

3. As you pull the barbell up toward your chest, drive your elbows back and contract your shoulder blades together.

4. Gradually return the barbell to the initial position.

Breathing Technique

1. Inhale deeply while lowering the barbell.

2. Exhale with force as you lift the barbell upwards.

Precautions

1. Avoid rounding your back during the exercise.

2. Refrain from briskly jerking the barbell upward.

3. Consistently keep your core engaged and back flat throughout the activity.
