Start Position

1. Sit at the end of a flat bench with your feet planted firmly on the ground.

2. With a dumbbell in each hand, extend your arms so that the weights meet in front of your chest.

Proper Form

1. Keeping your arms mostly straight with a slight bend at the elbows, elevate the dumbbells outward in an arc until your arms are level with the ground.

2. Squeeze your shoulder blades together when you reach the peak of the movement.

3. Gradually bring the dumbbells back down to the original position.

Breathing Technique

1. Breathe in as you lift the dumbbells and breathe out as you lower them back down.

Precautions

1. Ensure your arms remain mostly straight with a slight bend at the elbows throughout the entire exercise.

2. Engage your core and avoid arching your back.

3. Avoid swinging the weights or relying on momentum to perform the exercise.
