How to do smith machine stiff leg deadlift

Coach's Tips

Perform the stiff leg deadlift using the Smith Machine.

Start Position

1. Adjust the safety rails on the Smith Machine to the height you prefer.

2. Stand in front of the machine, positioning your feet at hip-width and pointing your toes slightly outward.

3. Grasp the bar with your hands shoulder-width apart, palms facing down.

4. Maintain a straight back and keep your chest elevated.

5. Keep your head in a neutral position, looking straight ahead.

Proper Form

1. Inhale deeply and engage your core.

2. Gradually lower the barbell by pushing your hips back, ensuring your legs stay straight.

3. Lower the barbell until it's just below knee level.

4. Pause briefly, then propel your hips forward to bring the barbell back to the starting position.

Breathing Technique

1. Inhale deeply before initiating the movement.

2. Exhale as you lower the barbell.

3. Inhale again as you return to the starting position.

Precautions

1. Keep your back straight and your core activated throughout the exercise.

2. Move in a controlled manner to avoid relying on momentum.

3. Avoid lowering the barbell too far or locking your knees to prevent injury.
