How to do incline smith machine bench press

Coach's Tips

This exercise is excellent for developing the upper chest. Concentrate on the targeted muscles and maintain a correct and steady form.

Start Position

1. Set the bench to an incline angle that suits you.

2. Make sure your feet are firmly planted on the platform and keep your spine neutral.

3. Hold the barbell with an overhand grip, slightly wider than shoulder-width.

Proper Form

1. Gradually lower the barbell to your chest while inhaling.

2. Hold for a moment at the bottom of the movement.

3. Extend your arms to press the barbell up while exhaling.

4. Ensure to lock out at the top.

Breathing Technique

1. Take a breath in as you bring the barbell to your chest.

2. Breathe out as you push the barbell up.

Precautions

1. Refrain from arching your back or lifting your hips off the bench.

2. Avoid bouncing the barbell on your chest.

3. Do not lock your elbows at the top position.

4. Employ a spotter when using heavier weights.
